Mr. Death: Descending through ashes
15/11/11 || Smalley
I guess if one of the most legendary DM bands ever already took the name you had in mind, you just add a a lame “Mr.” on front and call it a day. Underwhelming group names aside, “Descending” ain’t bad at all. It ain’t really good either, but still, next to some of the other steaming shits I’ve gotten in label-sents, I’m fine with this. Besides a too-high-in-the-mix drumkit, the production is acceptable (especially the crunchy rhythm guitar), and the Lars-Göran Petrov-inspired vocals don’t grate. The songwriting is pretty speedy DM for the most part with some hardcore-ish moments (though not in a bad way), but the riffs just don’t hook me. That’s it; no real major mistakes, but also nothing really excelling. The variety ain’t bad here, it just isn’t a variety of catchy things, so…
6/10: I dunno, your mileage might vary.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
